Support & FAQ

How do I make my first experience?

Open Create, upload the photo you plan to print, then add a video — your own clip, or one generated from your photos with the Memory Maker. Line up how the video sits on the photo, and you get a link and a QR code. Print the photo, point a phone camera at the print (or at the photo on a screen), and the video plays right on it.

Can I use a camera RAW file (NEF, CR2, ARW, DNG)?

Yes. Browsers cannot decode RAW itself, so we read the full-size preview JPEG your camera stores inside the file — for most bodies that is the whole picture at full resolution. If a RAW happens to carry no preview, export it as JPEG instead.

Does the memory keep rendering if I switch apps?

It pauses and picks up exactly where it left off. Rendering happens in your browser in real time, and a hidden tab cannot draw, so the recording, the music and the clock all stop together and resume when you come back. The finished film is the full length either way — it just takes longer in wall-clock time.

What kind of photo works best?

Detail and contrast. The camera recognises your photo by its features, so a busy, sharp, well-lit picture tracks far better than a minimal one — a face against a blank wall or a large area of sky gives it little to hold on to. The upload page scores your photo and warns you if tracking may struggle.

Any tips for printing?

Matte paper beats glossy — reflections hide the picture from the camera. Print at 9×13 cm (3.5×5 in) or larger, keep the print flat, and view it in decent light. Framed behind glass works if the glass is not catching a reflection.

How long can the video be?

Up to 45 seconds. Longer files are rejected at upload. Videos are automatically optimised for phones (720p-class, tuned bitrate), so a large file from your camera roll is fine — it just uploads faster if it is already small.

What is the Memory Maker?

Pick 2–8 photos and short clips and it renders a montage video for you: photos get a slow cinematic drift, clips contribute their first few seconds (up to 6), and scenes hand over with a gentle crossfade. Choose one of the built-in soundtracks (tap to preview), use your own audio file, or go silent. The result lands straight in the video slot, ready to publish.

The camera will not start — why?

The AR view needs camera permission. If you dismissed the prompt, your browser remembers: look for the camera icon in the address bar, or in the browser's site settings, and allow the camera for this site. On iPhones, AR works in Safari and in apps that use Safari's engine.

There is no sound when the video plays.

Sound starts with the tap that launches the AR camera — that tap is what allows audio on phones. If your phone is on silent/vibrate, iPhones may still mute web audio; flip the ring switch or use the volume buttons while the video is playing.

Why was I signed out on my other phone?

An account stays signed in on one device at a time — signing in somewhere new signs the previous device out. Your works are safe either way; they live in the account, not on the device. Just sign in again on the phone you want to use.

Who can see my work?

Only people who have your link or scan your QR code. Works are not listed anywhere public and are not searchable. Share the link only with people you want watching.

How long is my work kept?

As long as you want it. Published works are never deleted for inactivity — only you can delete them, from My works. Deleting is immediate: the link, the QR code, and the stored files all stop existing.

Still stuck?

Email support@miniese.com — include the link to your work if your question is about one, and say what phone and browser you are using if it is about playback. A person reads every message.
